The state officials have not yet released a statement on why Barış Terkoğlu was arrested. However, by being one of the first news outlets that reported on the secret burial of Turkish top brass killed in Libya, OdaTV has become the target of the government.
Last week, the Hafter forces in Libya had shot and killed nearly all of the top Turkish brass including top ranking generals and intelligence officials. This was kept secret from the public and the bodies were brought secretly to Turkey and were given a secret burial with no public participation or official funeral.
OdaTV was one of the first to report on the incident when they published photographs from the funeral of the top intelligence official. Since there is no official statement on the reason of the detention, the speculations point to the news of the secret funeral.
