Continuing its frontal attack on journalists and the free press, the Turkish government now is after journalist Murat Ağırel for his arrest.
Murat Ağırel is the fourth journalist being charged for “exposing Turkish intelligence information” in the last few days. The other three journalists were from OdaTV site.
Ağırel writes for Yeniçağ and has been the target of recent “mysterious” attacks after he mentioned about a secretive operation Turkey was illegally involved in Libya. The news Turkish government is trying to suppress was the secret funeral given to one of the two high ranking intelligence officer killed while illegally operating in Libya. Other very high ranking generals and intelligence officers were killed by the Libyan Hafter forces after Turkey illegally tried to invade Libya with the jihadist terrorists it brought from Syria.
After the news of the secret funeral with no official observation or ceremony for a Turkish martyr spread, the Twitter and e-mails of the involved journalists Ağırel and Batuhan Çolak were hacked by “mysterious” forces and all information on the secret funeral and burial were wiped.
Today, Ağırel was called by the Chief Republic Prosecutor’s office and asked to come in to give his “statement.”
Journalist then shared this information on social media and said, “I am going in to give my statement as a suspect.” Later it was revealed that Ağırel was forwarded to a punitive court with a request for arrest by the prosecutor.
