Access to Sendika.Org is blocked for a 12th time since 25 July 2015, this time without any official announcement. As Sendika.Org, we declare to those who can see no way of ruling the country apart from lies and violence that we will continue to present the truth to the public. After 12 closures, we are continuing our operations at sendika11.org, as well as twitter.com/sendika_org and www.facebook.com/www.sendika.org
Sendika.Org was closed for a 12th time in the past 15 months on the night of 24 October as Turkey’s authorities continue their crackdown against alternative media in the country.
Unlike past times, however, the state-run Information Technologies and Communication Directorate (BTK) provided no official reason for the closure of the www.sendika10.org web address, forcing users to access the site from VPN services.
BTK authorities reached by Sendika.Org told our website to “submit a written request.”
Turkey’s Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Palace of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have been working to silence independent and alternative media voices since relaunching a war with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in July 2015 after an electoral reverse.
Sendika.Org’s last incarnation, www.sendika10.org, was last shut down in the wake of the attempted coup on 15 July.
“We will not step back in the face of fascist assaults; we will do what is necessary in the struggle against fascism. As long as the struggle continues, Sendika.Org will continue. It has not been silenced, and it cannot be silenced,” we said when we were first shut down. There is little more to say, as we will continue on the same path.
While we have launched legal proceeding against the latest closure, readers can also continue to follow us at sendika11.org, while our Twitter and Facebook sites remain unchanged at twitter.com/sendika_org and www.facebook.com/www.sendika.org, respectively.
