Using the pretext of a fake, set-up coup the government of Turkey and the president Erdogan has escalated its attacks against all institutions to establish Erdogan’s personal rule.
Previously the state institution that oversees the press (BYEGM) had revoked the press credentials of Ozgur Gundem newspaper because it represents the Kurds in Turkey.
Yesterday, the same institution revoked the credentials of 34 additional journaists and similar to any oppressive measure excuse the government gives, the reason was announced to be “they were posing a threat to national security.”
After the set-up coup show on July 15th, the government is going down the list it had in its hand of changes so conveniently ready for an event like the one last week.
Already 15,200 workers in the ministry of education are sacked.
More than 2,800 Judiciary have been fired with many arrested.
TV channels not sympathetic to the government are having their licenses revoked.
More than 6,000 arrests of people who are critical of the government.
The journalists who had their credentials revoked are mostly the editors, chief editors and management in their newspaper and stations.
Government, on the other hand, denied any accusation of constricting the freedom of the press and said, “To support the terror organization is not covered under the freedom of the press.”
