In Romania Bucharest, a group of citizens stand in front of the Turkey consular to protest AKP’s antidemocratic constrain. Protest is continuing since yesterday (20th July) and protesters said “We are with Gezi resisters.” In front of the consular everyone stays silently and if the police asks for IDs give it to them quietly. They emulates “Standingman” of Gezi Resists.
Explanation of the protesters:
The repression the Turkish government is organizing in these days is unconstitutional and anti-democratic. About 50.000 people in the army, policy, justice system, public administration and higher education are affected. Using the failure of a military coup d’etat, Erdogan and his oligarchy wants to completely force into submission the Turkish society. To lead it following the Islamic principles and against its modern secular tradition.
We have shown solidarity with the protesters from #occupygezi. We trust the future of Turkey will be democratic and violence free. And we stand with those unfairly suffering and those who want a democratic and secular Turkey.
