To continue oppressing its own citizens, as if the over bloated police force is not enough, the police state of Turkey announced they would be accepting 4,900 male and 1,100 female students to the police academy. After the education phase, the candidates will be accepted into the police force if they are successful in the graduation tests.
After the 2013 Istanbul Gezi park protests where the police had attacked the demonstrators protecting their park against the government’s plans to destroy it and build a shopping mall, the government had announced they would be “strengthening the police force.” The police was widely criticized in their brutal tactics of beating, murdering and mostly using tons of pepper spray on the demonstrators.
