DIHA, whose internet sites together with Sendika.org has been blocked more than 20 times by the Turkish Telecommunication Department (TIB) and assisted by war planes since July 24th, is now under physical attack by the police.
At about the same time Turkish prime minister Ahmet Davudoglu was speaking in the US, saying, “Turkey is a democratic state, there is no limit to journalism, all journalistic activities are allowed,” the Turkish police was raiding the offices of DIHA, Azadiya Welat paper and Aram Publications and arresting 32 people including journalists. This only shows the lies and weakness of the government that could only rule the country by violence and lies.
Free press which does not succumb to this thuggery and which relies on reflecting reality continues on its path by overcoming all obstacles and by solidarity. The government frustrated by its failure in its attempts to erect virtual barricades is now trying to hide the truth by unlawful police raids.
The truth the government is trying to hide is the reality of “the war started by the Palace*,” and “the collapse of the rotten JDP power.” Also, it is the truth of “how the peoples of Turkey have not surrendered to the government of oppression and have risen against it.”
The government which has no tolerance towards truth or towards the right of the people to get truthful information will lose the war it wages against the free press no matter how much oppression or violence it exerts.
We are on the side of DIHA (Dicle News Agency) which stands against all suppression of media by declaring, “Truth should never be compromised.”
If needed, Sendika.org offices are DIHA offices and sendika.org correspondents are DIHA correspondents.
Against fascism and for the freedom of press we, as Sendika.org, are not only on the side of DIHA, but we too are DIHA.
