Growth lies of concrete-made heads are dragging Istanbul into an earthly hell. The chain mega profit projects which eat the lungs of the city, is transforming Istanbul in a building site of construction companies. And words by the competent, told twenty years ago, is constituting evidence for chain crimes being committed in the building sites in the Northern Forests: “Making a 3rd Strait Bridge is committing suicide; this is a murder!” (RTErdogan, 27th April 1995)

The killer projects constitute a package which aims to make the northern regions of Istanbul a space of attraction for the construction capital. The words stating that 3rd Strait Bridge is a transportation project and economic growth will stop, unless 3rd Airport and Channel Istanbul are not built, are nothing but the mega lies of the marketers of this package. The real truth is the speculative land purchases, speculative activities and job murders which cannot be covered by lies.

“As the life support systems of the city are under a process of destruction, the ecological values at the northern axis of the city running along the Black Sea coasts, primarily the water basins and forest areas of Istanbul, are closed to risky economic endeavours.” (Kadir Topbaş, Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan City, 2009 Istanbul Master Plan)
The competent today easily forget what they told yesterday. The competent try to escape from the responsibility of the trees cut, ecosystems spoilt, and wild animals forced to migrate, peasants displaced with low expropriation fees, workers victimized in the job murders and numerous legal court decisions unimplemented.
And the killer projects, just like the 1st and 2nd Bridges on the Strait, which had truncated large parts of the Northern Forests before decades, leave us without breath and water by destroying our last life support areas. Economy of concrete, of construction, like a bottomless well, by changing the climate of Istanbul, by destroying and contaminating the water collection basins, lakes and underground water, creates the foundation for unbearable drought.
We are forced to live in a building site made of concrete. The last forest areas, water basins, agricultural lands and coasts of Istanbul are opened up to construction and reconstruction activities by the hand of the killer projects eroding our life support systems. Istanbul is put under an unbearable new population and traffic load. Istanbul is left breathless together with the Northern Forests.

Against the murders of the concrete-made heads, 250 million trees in the northern part of Istanbul are still there and still live. Thousands of peasants in tens of villages in the northern part of Istanbul still cultivate. Wild animals, migratory birds, eagles, roes, water buffalos, in short, life with its all liveliness and power, still resists against the assassination.
