Police, during the march in Dikmen, Ankara on June, 26 attacked the protesters with TOMA* and tear gas and took 10 people into custody. Member of People’s Houses, Eylem Karadağ, was also among the ones detained. She was exposed firstly to police violence and then harassment in the military vehicle called as “Scorpion”. She was also threatened with rape as a result of her resistance against the police.
We, as the women, have been resisting since May, 31. Our rage is extensive against the women-hostility of AKP. Our voice is much stronger against the oppressive and exploitative policies maintained on our labor, body and identity for years. Because we are on the streets! We have brought our rebellion to the streets and squares in a period during which AKP aims us to lock into the houses and to restrain in our families.
Despite the police violence and custodies of the AKP government, we continue to develop our resistance into the parks. We are warning the AKP government and its police! You will see the rebellion of women every time and everywhere – with our red and black dresses and pots and fryers! You can not interfere in our living spaces and right of speech and decision!
We all are Eylem today! We are crying in the front rank of the resistance freely: We are afraid neither of AKP nor of its police! We do not keep silent; we do not stay at home! We are constructing women solidarity on the streets against the hostility and violence against women of AKP government. We, together with Eylem, will submit our indictment to the Ankara Court on July, 2 to the judgment of the police. This is our call to the women of our country and of the world: Let’s develop our solidarity with Eylem everywhere on that date! Let’s stop the violence against women altogether!
