Justice and Development Party’s attempt to cover up Ethem Sarısülük murder continues with the media, the police and the judiciary. As the JDP justice has released the police officer who murdered Ethem, Şahin İmga and Eren Tayşan, who were with Ethem when he was shot and who are going to testify at the prosecutor’s office, have become the target of a human hunt. Şahin İmga is arrested on June 21, and Eren Tayşan is taken into custody yesterday (June 25).
İmga and Tayşan, who are expected to testify at the prosecutor’s, have already testified for the Crime Scene Investigation Team’s Expert Witness Report for Ankara Gendarme Headquarters. In his testimony, Eren Tayşan said:
I was in front of Kızılay Güvenpark metro exit. The police was throwing gas canisters to a group of 7-8 people who were two meters away from me. One of the police officers dropped his shield to the ground all of a sudden, left the other officers behind and approached the protesters.
There was a protester lying down and the officer kicked him. When the protesters started coming at him, the officer drew his weapon and immediately fired it facing the protesters. Then, he turned his weapon to the air and fired a few rounds into the air. He returned and, his weapon still facing the protesters, fired one more time. He ran back to the other officers. No one else shot.
Ethem fell to the ground approximately 10 seconds after the first shot was fired. He was wounded in his head and bleeding.
