ITUC has internationally called on for action on June 21 and 22 for standing in solidarity with Turkey. Protests will be held in front of tear gas factories.
International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) has invoked all its members to protest on June 21 and 22 in order to support protests that are organized around Taksim and nationwide.
In accordance with ITUC’s call, protests will be held around Turkish Embassies and Consulates. Letters of protest will be submitted.
The following terms will be presented to Turkish authorities with these protests:
Oppressions and attacks against peaceful demonstrations should be ceased. Protestors’ demands to be resolved.
Individuals who are responsible for the death of Mehmet Ayvalıtaş, Abdullah Cömert, Ethem Sarısülük and Mustafa Sarı should be dismissed from their posts and should be taken to trial.
Freedom of gathering and demonstration should be provided at all public spheres, including Taksim Square.
Trade unionists who participated in protests should be guaranteed that they won’t lose their jobs.
Citizens who were detained at peaceful protests to be released.
Arrested KESK members should be released.
Obstructions for strike and trade rights should be abolished.
Injured individuals should be provided with necessary health services.
Restrictions against social media should be abolished.
Protests in front of tear gas suppliers
Protests will be held in front of tear gas factories that produced tears gas for Turkey, in Brazil and South Korea.
